Whilst coconut oil has been a key talking point in the beauty sector for the past years, Brazilian nut oils are fast-becoming recognized for its rare and unique cold pressed oils as the beauty industry turns to age-old formulas, created by the traditional custodians of the Amazon.

Natural plant oils are known to help regulate and restore balance to your skin’s oil production, as well as heal, protect, and nourish dry skin, the scalp, and your hair. Boasting wildly potent natural anti-aging properties, the essential fatty acids, amino acids and sterols, and high concentration of vitamins and minerals in Amazonian oils are extremely therapeutic.

However, when it comes to implementing oils in your skin and hair routine, it is important to explore the right products suited to your skin. For example, if you are prone to acne, natural oils are best for moisturizing your body and hair, but may wish to be avoided when it comes to your face.

Here are a few of our favourites:

Copaiba Resin
Copaiba Resin, is a powerful natural occurring resin that leaks from the trunk and the bark of the Copaiba Tree - an ancient tropical tree that grows in the fertile soils of the Amazonian Rainforest. Traditionally used as healing and anti-inflammatory agents, the resin bonds to the hair, creating volume, body and lift that provides a long-lasting, flexible and moveable hold.

Pracaxi Oil
Pracaxi Oil is produced by drying the seeds of the tree, then pressing them to extract the oil. With one of the highest natural concentrations of behenic acid - a fatty acid that creates a protective barrier against pollution and environmental hazards for both skin and hair - Pracaxi is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, primarily oleic (omega 9) and linoleic (omega 6) which promote firmness. This rich fatty acid content restores hydration, nourishes moisture and boasts anti-inflammatory properties when used in skincare, targeting deep moisture while helping to reduce wrinkles.

Pataua Oil
A powerful moisturizing agent with a high content of oleic acid (Omega 9) and unique properties such as light texture and easy absorption, Pataua oil has been used for generations of indigenous people in the Amazon forest. Research has shown Pataua Oil to act as an inhibitor of melanin biosynthesis, being used on the treatment of melasma and sun and age spots. It boasts anti-aging and skin firming properties due to its rich vitamin E, vitamin A and amino acid protein content.

Whether to moisturize and soften fine lines and wrinkles on your face, alleviate dry skin from scalp to toes, or add a healthy shine to hair, the Amazonian natural plant oils are a key player in the beauty sector.
